Podcaster's Meetup @ ShmooCon Update 1

(Sponsors still needed) We have had a lot of great response for everyone on this year's event! I want to reiterate, this event is for podcasters, bloggers, twitter addicts, and everyone in between. I would also like to announce an update to our sponsor's lineup:

Sponsors:

TheAcademyPro.com / TheAcademyHome.com

--- These are twin sites catering videos to the security pro looking to learn about everything from enterprise gear to Maltego, and the home user trying to start the learning about security and how to secure their own computers without going to you the IT guy in the family.

DojoSec

--- A conference in Columbia, Maryland that is geared towards education of the beginner to intermediate hacker / security guru. It is a monthly conference with perpetual call-for-papers.

Hewlett-Packard

--- No introduction needed, they are the maker of the fabled HP 2133, the hackers choice 'netbook' (which we may just be giving away one)

Sunbelt Software

--- Makers of VIPRE the low resource AV, and the CWSandbox malware analyzer.

Trusted Signal

--- Trusted Signal is a vendor independent provider of information security solutions, expert services and training. Look forward to some awesome prizes and giveaways this year!

  • PaulDotCom
  • CyberSpeak
  • Securabit
  • Security Justice

FireTalks:

Have a talk that didn't get accepted? Want the chance to share a project that you are working on? Think of FireTalks as a verbal blog post. The human experience is built on the ability to tell and learn from stories. At SchmooCon 2009, “FireTalks” is a supportive environment in which to either share insights or learn from others. Whether polishing a presentation (story) for conferences, meetings or training, FireTalks are the way to share, learn and improve. The inaugural FireTalks take place Friday night -- following the Podcasters Meetup. Talks are limited to 10-15 minutes with four (4) scheduled talks and four (4) open slots. Open slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Saturday night will be more relaxed. Come join us and present, listen and learn. When Friday and Saturday Night at ShmooCon ‘09 Where ShmooCon 2009, in or around the press room

Podcaster's Meetup @ ShmooCon

First of all I would like to wish you all the very best of new years!
This year will also mark the 3rd Annual Podcaster's Meetup @ ShmooCon. Our 1st Annual meetup at DefCon was a blast, and I want to thanks all of the I-Hacked.com crew for helping make it such a success. We are again looking to be sponsored by Asus, and possibly Astaro, Dell, Sunbelt Systems, TekSystems, and K-Force.

This is the initial post to find out who's going, who's interested and to make a couple announcements.

First Announcement:
The Podcaster's Meetup is no longer for just podcaster's (like it ever was..), we welcome, bloggers, and twits alike to join in the fun. Everyone is welcome, and as always the free drinks afterwards.

Second Announcement:
Michael Santarcangelo, the Security Catalyst community and the Security Twits have come up with a group that will be doing after hours presentations. So, if you were declined, didn't submit but have a talk, or just want to learn to speak by watching the critiques that go on, please come out an join us. The main goal of these after hours talks is to foster the development of the speaker in a less imposing environment than a ShmooCon track. Depending on the responses we get, we may be doing these talks all three nights. Please email: info@podcastersmeetup.com if you are interested in talking.

Third Announcement:
We learned a lot form last years attempt at a contest, so instead we will giving the prizes away during the meetup! No more chasing down obscure facts about Hak5 or Larry Pesce's fetishes for you, and no need to defend a Wordpress install for me. Win-Win.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to shoot me an email.

Look forward to seeing ya'll at the Wardman Park - Feb 6-8,
